Linda is a full member of the Garden and Landscape Design Association, (GLDA), Ireland’s Professional Association for Garden Designers and a Pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, (SGD), the UK’s Professional Association for Garden Designers. Linda McKeown is one of Northern Ireland’s leading professional garden designers.
Plants are one of the most important elements of the garden, the right choice of plants is vital to create the correct garden environment, while also creating the desired effect. Linda is a trained horticulturalist and has a passion for plants, expertly producing concepts, designs and stunning outdoor spaces.
To date she has created private, public and commercial gardens, working closely with clients and contractors from concept through to the completed, planted garden.
With an interest in architecture and the ‘built environment’ and a passion for plants and the environment, Linda changed career and studied at QUB to gain qualifications in Horticulture and in Garden Design, she has been designing gardens professionally since 2001.

Linda works with the building’s architecture, surrounding landscape and client lifestyle, adding sympathetic landscaping and naturalistic planting to create beautiful and sustainable garden spaces.
She has also staged show gardens in Belfast and Dublin and has, in the past, been accepted to design a garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
In 2020 Linda gained the Award in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (Thrive UK) and works part-time with a charitable organisation as garden facilitator, helping adults with learning disabilities to garden, grow seasonal produce and enjoy the benefits of Horticulture. Linda is therefore best placed to create bespoke therapy gardens, suited to the user and visitor.
Linda also teaches Horticulture at Stranmillis University College as part of the Life Long Learning Programme.
Linda was featured as a designer for Greenmount's BBC television programme. The Belfast Telegraph also featured Linda in an editorial on women working in garden design in Northern Ireland.
